Police responded to a hit-and-run accident in Manassas on Sunday after a man crashed into a vehicle, fled the accident and subsequently kicked two police officers trying to apprehend him, reports the Manassas Patch.
The suspect, 27-year-old Jose Elias Portillo, has been charged with driving under the influence, assault and battery on law enforcement officers, felony hit-and-run, driving without a license, and resisting arrest.
At around 4:30 p.m. on March 31s, police were called to the 8100 block of Community Drive after reports of a hit and run that occurred near Ashland Avenue and Lomond Drive. Witnesses claimed that a suspect hit an occupied car and drove off.
Police found the vehicle and discovered upon approaching the suspect that he was intoxicated. The suspect then attempted to kick the officers as they arrested him, and further tried to kick out the window of the police cruiser as police transported him to Manassas jail.
